The present work aims to identify in the literature what has been reported regarding the use of pc program for X-ray Monte Carlo (PCXMC) software as a tool for estimating dose in radiology. This is an integrative review of the literature through the systematic search in pubmed and scopus online databases using the term "PCXMC" to make up the search strategy. It covered from the first to the last published article (1998-2020). After reading in full and submission to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 121 articles were selected to make up the final sample. The bibliometric analysis showed that of the 121 articles: 16% were published in 2018, 17% were composed of 5 authors, 2% were conducted in Brazil, 25% were published in the journal "Radiation Protection Dosimetry", 68% estimated the effective dose and 62% conducted their studies in X-ray equipment. Of the 121 articles in the sample, 14 articles were selected and analyzed that directed their study focus to evaluate the applicability of the PCXMC software, and 7 articles made comparations of PCXMC results with dosimeters and other 7 articles made comparations between PCXMC and other similar software. In all 14 articles there was considerable agreement between the doses estimated by PCXMC and the other comparison method used, thus this software was considered a useful tool for estimating the dose in radiology, being indicated by the analyzed studies as an easy and fast method when compared to the "in vitro" method.
