A usinagem é um processo de fabricação amplamente utilizado nas indústrias do mundo, a maior parte dos produtos industrializados passa pela operação de usinagem em alguma etapa de produção. Segundo a norma DIN 8580 de 2003, usinagem é todo o processo de fabricação onde ocorre a remoção de material sob a forma de cavaco, ou seja, consiste na retirada de material do bloco de matéria prima bruta ou pré- fabricada, com uma ferramenta cortante, conferindo à peça forma, dimensões e acabamento, ou ainda a combinação dos três. Visando melhorar os tempos de usinagem, a qualidade superficial e dimensional, e preocupando-se com questões ambientais, são investidos recursos na compra de máquinas e softwares de programação mais eficientes e mais modernos. As empresas desenvolvedoras dos softwares de programação CNC aprimoram suas plataformas constantemente, a partir de informações coletadas entre os usuários, formando um banco de dados que auxilia a entender e melhorar o processo de fabricação. Comercialmente existem diversos softwares CAM, entretanto é importante conhecer as características e áreas de aplicação dos mesmos, visto que nem todas as indústrias possuem as mesmas necessidades. Mediante isso, este trabalho consiste em uma análise comparativa entre três softwares comerciais de programação CNC para usinagem por fresamento. Os softwares comparados são: o PowerMILL, SprutCAM e SolidWorks CAM. Para a avaliação foram feitas simulações de usinagem por fresamento de uma peça padrão, com operações de desbaste, alívio de cantos e acabamento. A análise comparativa abrange o tempo de usinagem, código CNC, e o comprimento do percurso da ferramenta.
Machining is a manufacturing process widely used in industries all over the world, most of all industrialized products go through the machining operation in some of their production stages. According to DIN 8580 of 2003, machining is the entire manufacturing process where material is removed in the form of chips, that is, it consists of removing material from the raw or prefabricated raw material block, with a cutting tool, giving the part shape, dimensions and finish, or even a combination of the three. In order to improve machining times, surface and dimensional quality, and being concerned with environmental issues, resources are invested in the purchase of more efficient and more modern machines and programming software. The companies that develop CNC programming software constantly improve their platforms, based on information collected among users, forming a database that helps to understand and improve the manufacturing process. Commercially there are several CAM software, however it is important to know their characteristics and application areas, since not all industries have the same needs. Therefore, this work consists of a comparative analysis between three commercial CNC programming software for machining. The software that will be compared are PowerMILL, SprutCAM and SolidWorks CAM. For the evaluation were performed simulations of milling machining a standard part, with roughing operations, corner relief and finishing. The comparative analysis covered machining time, CNC code, and the length of the tool path.
