The steady increase in medical exposures related to computed tomography (CT) scans has been frequently discussed in recent years. With the growing demand for CT scans, so has concern about the effective doses received by exposed patients. Therefore, research on this topic is important as it contributes to the optimization of received doses while maintaining image quality. In this sense, this study sought to evaluate the medical exposures of CT scans using a total abdomen protocol data extracted from the Santa Catarina Telemedicine System (STT-SC) such as: kV, mAs, pitch, scan length, CTDIvol, DLP and secondary patient data (age, sex, weight and height). As inclusion criteria, data from exams performed in adult patients (18-59 years) were used; of both genders; who had undergone CT of the entire abdomen from January 2021 to December 2022. Then, the data collected in the NCICT® software was applied to estimate the effective doses and the dose in organs in the evaluated exams. Subsequently, a simple descriptive statistical analysis was performed in order to present the main data obtained and to allow comparison with other studies carried out. The mean effective dose for female patients was 7.50 mSv. For male patients, the mean effective dose (mSv) was 8.03 mSv, and the organs that received the highest dose in the abdominal region were: spleen 10,99 (±4,24) and liver 10,91(±4,01). For female patients (n=57), in the abdominal region, the organs that received the highest dose were: spleen 9,89 (±4,75) and liver 9,82 (±4,27). With these results, it is concluded that in this study the dose values in organ/mGy are close to the averages found in the literature.
