This study investigates the relationship between evapotranspiration from an area of the Amazon Basin, transported through the Low Level Jets (JBN), in periods when the South Atlantic Convergence Zone was inactive (NZCAS), and precipitation in the Irani River Basin , located in the state of Santa Catarina, Southern Brazil. Through statistical analyzes and atmospheric pattern detection techniques, the relationship between these variables was examined to determine the detailed characterization of the river basin. The work includes the development of a JBN detection algorithm, allowing for more accurate and detailed identification of these tropospheric events. To detect JBN at different pressure levels, a computational routine was developed and applied to data from the CFSR and CFSv2 reanalysis, both from NCEP. Precipitation data were extracted from the MERGE-INPE/CPTEC model. The results indicated a significant relationship between evapotranspiration in the Amazon region and precipitation in the Irani River Basin. It was also found that the JBN plays a crucial role in transporting moisture from the Amazon to the studied region. During the summer months, JBN events were more recurrent when the Amazon is more active in terms of convection and formation of convective systems with the SACZ inactive (NZCAS). In this condition, moisture transport occurs towards Paraguay, Argentina and Southern Brazil, but specifically in the Rio da Prata Hydrographic Basin, resulting in a greater influence on the spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation in the basin. Analysis of flows in the river basin also revealed seasonal patterns and significant variations over time.
