Da literatura para o cinema: uma análise de figurino em “O Grande Gatsby”

O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar o figurino dos protagonistas Jay Gatsby e Daisy Buchanan descrito no clássico da literatura “ The Great Gatsby” (O Grande Gatsby), escrito pelo americano F. Scott Fitzgerald em 1925, em relação às obras cinematográficas homônimas ao livro produzidas no ano de 1974 e de 2013. Com esta finalidade, foram levantadas informações por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica sobre figurino e sua construção, bem como um estudo do livro e suas personagens, buscando conhecimento sobre o contexto histórico e os referenciais de moda da época em que se passa a narrativa, como materiais e modelagens utilizados. Após a elaboração do referencial teórico, foi desenvolvida a análise iconográfica que envolve a comparação dos figurinos retratados na obra literária com as adaptações para o cinema, baseando-se nos elementos estipulados por Castro e Costa (2010). Por fim, foi apresentada a discussão dos resultados, no qual foram expostas as similaridades entre as obras e verificada a influência das descrições de figurino do livro nas adaptações cinematográficas.
The present study aims to analyze the costume of the protagonists Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan described in the classic of literature “The Great Gatsby”, written by the American F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925, in relation to the cinematographic works homonymous to the book produced in the years 1974 and 2013. For this purpose, information was raised through a bibliographical research about costume and its development, as well as an in-depth study of the book and its characters, seeking knowledge about the historical context and the fashion references of the epoch in which the narrative happens, such as materials and modeling used. After the elaboration of the theoretical reference, it was developed the iconographic analysis that involves the comparison of the costumes portrayed in the literary work with the adaptations for the cinema, based on the elements stipulated by Castro and Costa (2010). By the end, was presented the discussion of the results in which the similarities between works was exposed and verified the influence of descriptions of costumes of the book in the cinematographic adaptation.
