Confecção de cobertas por meio do upcycling: benefícios à comunidade por meio da extensão

Abstract

O presente trabalho visou conhecer a temática do upcycling e suas possibilidades de reaproveitamento de materiais descartados por indústrias de confecção, na construção de novos produtos e na prática da extensão, que visa por meio da academia colaborar e promover impacto social em seu entorno. O entendimento acerca da temática e construção do referencial teórico se deu com a pesquisa bibliográfica, e em seguida foi dada continuidade ao trabalho de forma prática sendo que este, teve como objetivo geral "confeccionar cobertas e mantas por meio de técnicas de upcycling e promover a doação dos itens às instituições de acolhimento”. O desenvolvimento dos produtos realizou-se com a doação de materiais por empresas de Sombrio - SC e pelo IFSC - Araranguá. Os materiais recebidos foram selecionados, cortados e costurados utilizando as técnicas de upcycling. Concluída a confecção, os produtos foram entregues às instituições parceiras Casa da Fraternidade e a Casa Lar - Irmã Carmen, na cidade de Araranguá-SC. Além disso, foi elaborado um vídeo explicativo de como fazer as mantas para bebês e as cobertas, divulgado nas redes sociais. Entende-se a importância deste projeto de extensão para a comunidade, bem como, a comunicação dos seus resultados visando inspirar novas ações semelhantes.The work presented here aimed to get a better understanding on the subject of upcycling and the possibilities brought up by it concerning the reusing of the textile industry waste in the making of new products, and in the practice of extension, by which the Academy collaborates and promotes social impact in its soundings. The understanding of the subject and the building of a theoretical framework were obtained through literary research; Following came the practical stage, giving continuity to the workflow: this step consisted in the making of blankets and sheets where upcycling techniques were applied, and the donation of the produced materials to sheltering institutions. The product development on this project was made from materials donated by companies from Sombrio- SC and by the IFSC - Araranguá. The materials received were selected, cut and sewed applying upcycling techniques. The finished products were delivered to the partnership institutions Casa da Fraternidade and Casa Lar - Irmã Carmen, both in the city of Araranguá-SC. Further on, an explanatory video on how to make the blankets and sheets has been produced and published in social media. It is understood that this project of extension, as well as the propagation of its results, is important to the community, aiming to inspire new initiatives like this.
