This project consists of developing a system to verify the flow response of a gas meter to an air flow. There are three possibilities for a verification like this: the most usual, which is to use a reference meter mounted in series (in the same air flow) where the meter to be verified is located; an intermediate one, which is the comparison of the response of the meter to be verified with the previously observed response, under the same conditions, of a reference sensor with the same fluid dynamic characteristics (which causes the same pressure drop) and which is not mounted in the system during verification; and finally, the most risky one, which is to compare the flow measured with the meter under test with that predicted by the characteristic curve of the fan (blower) that generates the air flow. The system developed here explores the last two possibilities. The use of the response previously observed with a reference meter with fluid dynamic characteristics identical to the meter under test proved to be a great option. The use of the ventilator's characteristic curve allows some verification to be carried out even when a reference meter is not available with fluid dynamic characteristics similar to those of the meter under test, but with an unsatisfactory accuracy.
