Religiosity has a significant impact on the lives of Brazilians, positively influencing emotional and social aspects. However, in order for spaces for worship and religious practice to be truly inclusive, they need to offer universal accessibility, especially considering the presence of individuals with temporary or permanent disabilities among their visitors. In this context, the purpose of this study is to conduct a preliminary study of the physical and architectural accessibility of the Palhoça Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, based on current legislation and, in particular, ABNT NBR 9050:2020, which establishes the technical criteria for the design of accessibility in buildings. The methodology involved a documentary analysis of the building's architectural plan, on-site technical inspections and the preparation of updated sketches by means of an As-Built survey, with the aim of identifying existing points of non-compliance and proposing viable solutions. The results showed a number of inadequacies in relation to accessibility standards, such as the absence of ramps with an adequate slope, the lack of tactile signage, the lack of parking spaces for people with disabilities and the inadequacy of accessible routes. These deficiencies compromise full access to the religious environment for people with reduced mobility. Based on these observations, a new project was prepared containing technical suggestions for adjustments, taking into account the feasibility of implementation and maintaining the functionality of the spaces. It is concluded that the proposed interventions are fundamental to ensuring that the building complies with the principles of universal accessibility, promoting inclusion, comfort and autonomous access for all visitors, regardless of their physical condition. The study thus seeks to contribute to the construction of a friendly and equitable environment, in keeping with the fundamental values of the Adventist Church.
