This work demonstrates how important it is to adapt machines to man, especially when in the industry the production process is carried out manually, with loss of time and unnecessary movements on the part of manufacturing. Therefore, this work has the general objective of optimizing material movement in a rotor assembly cell in a multinational metalworking company located in the north of the state of Santa Catarina. This work presents as a methodology an exploratory qualitative experimental flow, where the study was carried out in the field, subdivided into 3 macros of activities, starting with the presentation of the work center, followed by data collection and analysis and ending with the evaluation of these data. With the development of the work, it can be observed that the operator performed unnecessary movements during his work flow, increasing the production time. As well as one of the solutions indicated was the adaptation of the workplace through the development of a new workbench, focusing on ergonomic issues to improve working conditions. With this, production times can be standardized as well as ergonomic issues related to manual work. Among the results achieved, there was an improvement in the work center, comparing the production times, the improvement was 46% in the reduction of movements performed. Regarding the lifting load performed by the operator, this improvement was 180% compared to the conditions before the optimizations performed. According to the estimate calculated by this work, the potential annual gain was R$ 4,110.00 reals, which came from the improvement of the layout studied, improving working conditions, mitigating unnecessary movements in addition to reducing the bottleneck at the end of the line.
